Lindsay Lohan has been ordered to refrain from drinking or doing drugs ... and if she dares to try she could end up behind bars.

On Monday (May 24), a stern Superior Court judge warned troubled actress Lindsay Lohan that she needs to keep on the straight and narrow if she wishes to avoid a return trip to jail. After Lohan missed her initial court date last week after claiming that her passport was stolen while she was attending the Cannes film festival in France, CBS News reported that a "somber and concerned" looking Lohan appeared in a Beverly Hills, California, courtroom and lost a bid to ease the restrictions of her probation.

Lohan will also be subject to weekly random drug testing and is forbidden from drinking any alcohol as conditions for the actress to remain free on bail.

Lohan, 23, showed up in court looking nervous, wearing a black business suit with her hair back in a ponytail and was accompanied by her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley. She was 10 minutes late to the scheduled 8:30 a.m. hearing – but L.A. Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel accepted the attorney's explanation that the delay was due to security concerns caused by the media crowd outside the courthouse.

Lindsay Lohan is being fitted for her newest fashion accessory -- her court-ordered SCRAM bracelet.

The SCRAM bracelet can detect traces of alcohol through the wearer's perspiration and must be worn at all times. Tampering with it triggers an alarm to authorities.

It remains unclear whether Lohan violated probation or not. Although Lohan received a positive report from the class earlier this month, the judge had ordered Lohan to attend the class "once a week without fail."

If found in violation, the L.A. DA is seeking up to six months in jail for the actress. A new hearing date, to determine if she violated the terms of her probation, was set for July 6.

Lohan pulled a no-show at her hearing last Thursday because her passport was allegedly stolen while at the Cannes Film Festival. An arrest warrant issued Thursday was dismissed after she posted $100,000 bail.

Judge Revel said Lohan has failed to complete alcohol education classes imposed as part of a 2007 sentence for reckless driving, drunken driving and driving under the influence of cocaine. Revel warned Lohan last October that she risked going to jail unless she took the matter seriously.

Lohan was considered one of Hollywood's most talented young actresses after films like "Freaky Friday" and "Bobby".

But despite three stints in rehab in 2007, her movie career has slumped and her late-night partying at Hollywood clubs has become a staple of celebrity gossip columns.
