Long wait has been ended as agreements on wage revision & pension

selection have been signed today with the IBA, gaining grand landmark in our trade union association. The 9th lucky Bipartite Settlement has been confirmed & the wages and service situations of bank workers have been improved. The Pension option Settlement has also been signed today which has the capacities all the left workers to be covered by the D.A. related Defined Benefit Pension Scheme, which is the best social security step in the post-retrial life of workers.

We are glad that under the sign of UFBU, all the 9 unions have all together signed the Agreements taking both workers & officers, assuming the true spirit of the UFBU. The Settlement takes 46 Banks (26 Public Sector Banks, 12 Private Sector Banks and 8 Foreign Banks) and would provide profit 4, 77,000 workmen & 2, 75,000 officers. The Settlement would price the Banks an extra increment in wages by Rs.5, 200 crores per year (Rs.4, 816 crores for Public Sector Banks and around Rs.400 crores for private and Foreign Banks). The Settlement will be implemented from November 2007 to October 2012.

Under the Bipartite Settlement all the left 2, 60,000 workers & officers who are now covered by CPF would be provided an opportunity to include the Pension Scheme – a high demand of the Unions. Above 50,000 retirees will too receive the choice to include the pension scheme.

The Bipartite Settlement is led by 30 months of protracted interactions between the IBA & the unions, and was backed by different agitational programmes and strike actions, which were actively implemented by the members. There were several exciting moments during this period witnessed with loads of misinformation’s, orchestrated columnies and powerful misinformation against all our attempts to resolve. In addition to this were the attempts to ignore the organization, criticize the leadership and derail the interactions. But overcoming this & these, we have assumed the Bipartite Settlement successfully.

Really it is the work of great admiration with harmony, patience & assistance.
