A post over at the Modmyi forums reads:

“big rumour right here From different sources people know that Geohots new jailbreak will be called limera1n (from geohot) will jailbreak iPad and untether all devices. most likely coming out on April 30, when the iPad 3G comes out.”

George Hotz, an internationally known blogger also referred to as geohot, has secured http://www.limera1n.com/, a web search has revealed. The hacker, notorious for his Blackra1n jailbreak tool, confirmed plans to release an iPad jailbreak tool on April 9th. Now, people believe limera1n is the next-generation (iPad) jailbreak solution from geohot, and that the tool is set to be released in the coming weeks.

If you do a simple domain search you will find out that this domian is registerd with Geo Hot. Check it here now.

Some folks, like those at UberGizmo, have written about the break in the context of iPhone OS 4.0 — which geohot posted jailbroken pictures of about two weeks ago — but if that’s to be the be all and end all of limera1n, then it’s a ways off, since Apple said consumers won’t be getting OS 4 until the summer, and what they do get is likely to be a lot different from the developers’ beta currently out. We’ll indeed just have to “wait and see,” but what murky early signs we’ve got suggest it could be something very much worth seeing.

Update: GeoHot has just written a new Twitter message (1, 2) saying that his name, address, email etc.are public and for which anyone can register a domain name. Currently, the hacker is working on many things. The name of his tools will remain Blackra1n and LimeRa1n we define it as yet another fake.

Apparently, and for obvious reasons, GeoHot wasn’t particularly pleased, and I guess he’s growing tired of people bugging him about a new jailbreak.

He made this clear today by saying on Twitter that we shouldn’t be expecting a jailbreak from him anytime soon.

What do you guys think of all this? Do you think he’s trying to mislead us to surprise us better soon? Or is he just not working on a jailbreak after all?
